Why eSIM beats roaming

Three ways to stay connected abroad. Only one skips the queues and the markup.

Best choice

eSIM

  • Connects in 2–3 minutes
  • 3–10× cheaper than roaming
  • Works the moment you land
  • Buy before you fly
  • Fixed price

Roaming

  • Works on any phone
  • Expensive: $5–15 per MB
  • Unpredictable bills
  • Slow speeds
  • Charges for background data

Local SIM

  • Cheap once you're in-country
  • Airport queues
  • Passport required
  • Language barrier
  • No internet until you buy one

Frequently asked questions about eSIM

What is a travel eSIM?
A virtual SIM card with a data plan from a local carrier. No physical card needed — the plan loads onto your phone via a QR code. An eSIM has no phone number, so it activates without a passport or ID check.
Which devices support eSIM?
iPhone XS and newer, recent iPads, most Android flagships, and wearables with an eSIM module. Quick check: dial *#06# — if the response includes an EID line, your device is compatible.
Isn't it easier to just buy a local SIM on arrival?
With an eSIM you don't need to hunt for a carrier store in an unfamiliar city, explain yourself in a foreign language, or hand over your passport. Maps, taxis and messengers work from the moment you land — no queues, no plastic SIM.
How does our eSIM work?
Coverage spans 200+ countries (excluding Russia and Ukraine). Your phone connects to a local carrier automatically as soon as you're in coverage. You pay once for the plan you choose — no subscription, no auto-renewal.
What's included in an eSIM plan?
Mobile data only. You can't make calls or send texts with the eSIM — it has no phone number. Your primary SIM stays in the phone and keeps working as usual.
When will I receive my eSIM after payment?
We email the QR code and activation instructions — usually within 15 minutes of payment. Occasionally, if the carrier is under heavy load, delivery can take up to 3 hours.
When does the eSIM's validity period start?
The validity period starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network, not at the moment of purchase. This usually happens automatically after you land in your destination country. You can install the eSIM in advance — the countdown only begins once it connects to a network covered by your plan.
How long does eSIM activation take?
Usually a few minutes to an hour after your phone enters the local carrier's coverage. Occasionally longer, depending on server load. It's best to install the eSIM in advance so you just switch on mobile data after landing.
What if activation is stuck or shows a “failed” status?
Don’t worry — even when the status reads “activating...” or “activation failed”, the eSIM is usually already installed. Final activation happens once your phone picks up the carrier in your destination country. If you still have no internet a few hours after landing, contact support.
Will my main SIM card still work?
Yes. The eSIM becomes a second line on your phone, and your main SIM keeps working alongside it. To avoid roaming charges on your main number, turn off mobile data for it in settings and set the eSIM as the default line for data.
Can I share the eSIM's internet connection?
Yes, via hotspot/tethering. All our plans support it — connect a laptop, tablet or a second phone.
Are there hidden fees or a subscription?
No. You pay once for a plan and use it until the data or the validity period runs out. No auto-renewal, no subscription, no surprise charges.
Can I get a refund after purchase?
eSIMs are non-refundable — that's inherent to digital products. If your eSIM fails to activate due to a technical issue on our end, contact support and we'll look into it individually.
Can I move the eSIM to another phone?
No. The QR code and activation code are single-use — once installed, the eSIM is tied to that device. Before you buy, make sure you're installing it on the phone you'll actually be travelling with.
If I deleted the eSIM, can I install it again?
No. Once deleted, the same QR code can't be reinstalled — it only works once. Only delete an eSIM once you're sure you no longer need that plan.
Can I put the eSIM in a modem or router?
No. eSIM only works in smartphones, tablets and wearables with a built-in eSIM module. It can't be installed in Wi-Fi modems or routers.
